Can I just start by saying I love summer but man it's been SO hot this week! I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July. Ben and I didn't do anything too crazy, just hung out at our neighbors house up the street. It was awesome though! From their house you can see the entire Salt Lake valley! I love fireworks so as long as I get to see them, I'm happy.
So in the last update I was talking about how we have been working on the yard which we are still doing. We've needed a fence and finally got around to getting it. Of course we scheduled it with the company and it happened to be a day that Ben was out of town so after being quizzed a dozen times I was feeling ok about it. So the day came and it was a day I had therapy scheduled. My mom picked me up and we headed out, just as I was pulling into the Neuroworx parking lot the installer called and had some wonderful news. He hit a power line and I now had no power. After getting off the phone with him I quickly realized that meant I would not be able to get into my house. I decided I'd just forget about it for a while and work out. Just before leaving therapy, I called the installer back and it sounded like I'd have temporary power for a bit. So crisis averted for the time being. I was able to get home and in the house but shortly after that they had to turn the power off for about 2 more hours to fix what was done. Luckily it was a rainy day and cooler weather so it ended up being ok. But for the guys working on the power lines it was a little scary. They were out there with a 20 foot crane thing on the truck with a wire and hook on it to get the heavy box cover off the electrical box, and there was so much lightening and thunder! It turned out ok though. I had no power for a couple hours but it's all better now, and no one got struck by lightening. The fence is all done now and it looks great!!

It's funny when you're younger all you want to do is grow up and be an adult but once you're here you just want to go back to being a carefree kid! If we only knew then what we know now...
So about 2 weeks ago now, I was in the kitchen here at home and needed to do a pressure release. Which means I lift myself up and allow blood to flow back through my legs and butt. So as I began to lift I started to spasm so I sat back down and tried to wiggle it out and let my body relax and then lifted again. Well I spasmed again and as I tried to sit back down and had too much momentum and it popped me back and BAM! I slammed my head on our granite countertop then BAM! Hit my head again on the tile floor. Luckily Ben was home. He came running down the hall as soon as I hit. I didn't knock myself out but it was kind of an out-of-body experience for a minute. It was crazy, I was on the ground and my whole entire body began to tingle! Head to toe, tingles kind of like when your arms dead asleep and it starts to come back. It was like that for 30 seconds or so. It hurt so bad, my head was pounding and I was just sobbing. I thought I laid there for maybe 5 minutes but Ben said it was more like 15 minutes until I let him pick me up and put me on the couch. Once my head stopped spinning and could think straight again Ben and I couldn't decide whether or not to go to an instacare/ER. So I did what any grown up would do, and called my mom. After explaining to her what happened and getting that much needed motherly sympathy, we decided to go to instacare. After speaking with the doctor, we determined that everything was fine and I was just going to have a pounding headache and some nausea for a day or two. The doctor did mention that I would need to ice it a few times for the next day or so. So instead of just holding a pack of ice on my head I decided to wrap it with a bandage. I couldn't help but take a picture. I'm ok now, I'm just not allowed to hang out on the tile anymore and I'm certainly not going to do anymore pressure releases in there!

Other than giving myself a concussion, things have been fairly quiet around here. We've been enjoying this hot summer and getting out with friends as much as possible. A friend of ours won some tickets to a suite at the Bees game last week. It was a lot of fun (even if they got their butts kicked). I'm so glad we were able to go and enjoy a good game, good food and great company!
Therapy has been going great! I'm in the pool, standing a lot, walking(LT) and all sorts of stuff. I get so frustrated sometimes, it's such a slow process and I get...irritated is a good word. I know it's all helping, it just takes so flippin long! My thighs and glutes are starting to fire. Not enough to see it or enough to move my leg yet, but it's triggering now. So I'm making some awesome progress.
On the 19th Ben and myself will be going to Neuroworx to participate is a Step-a-Thon. They are trying to keep all there walking/stepping machines going for a full 24 hours. They are still looking for volunteers if anyone's interested. There are a few machines only patients can use but there are 4 others that can be used by both. If you are interested, call Neuroworx and ask for more info and how to volunteer. (801)619-3670
As always, thank you for never giving up on me! Love you all!
